Description
Piroctone Olamine
This substance has antifungal properties and is used to treat a type of fungus called Malassezia globosa, which is often the main cause of dandruff. This fungus is found naturally on the scalp of everyone. Some people are sensitive to certain environmental factors and chemicals and their scalp becomes irritated when it comes into contact with them; the body reacts to this quickly and tries to remove the irritant by shedding the skin cells. This leads to flaky hair. Stopping this process is the key to preventing dandruff.
ClimbazoleThis anti-fungal agent removes dandruff-causing fungi and prevents inflamed and flaky scalp.
Polyquaternium 10It is a cationic surfactant and is used to moisturize hair and make it shiny and silky; polyquaternium 10 also prevents frizzy hair.
GlycerinGlycerin helps moisturize the hair shaft.
Disodium Laureth SulfosuccinateIt is a gentle anionic eye and skin cleanser.
Cocamidopropyl BetaineIt is an amphoteric surfactant with foaming properties in shampoos and has high cleansing properties when combined with sodium lauryl sulfate.
Sodium Lauryl SulfateSodium lauryl sulfate is a new-generation anionic surfactant that causes no allergic or inflammatory reactions.
General information
Dandruff may have several causes which are as follows:
Greasy and irritated skin (seborrheic dermatitis): This is one of the most common causes of dandruff which causes oily and red skin with yellow or white flakes on the scalp. Seborrheic dermatitis affects the scalp and areas of the body with more sebaceous glands, such as the eyebrows, area around the nose, behind the ears, chest bone (sternum), groin, and sometimes the armpits.
Not shampooing enough: not washing your hair regularly will cause skin cells and oil to build up on the scalp and this leads to dandruff.
Dry skin: in dry scalps skin flakes are usually smaller and less oily compared to other forms of dandruff and there is less redness and inflammation. Dry skin is also possible on other parts of your body, including your legs and arms.
sensitivity to hair care products (contact dermatitis): Some people are sensitive to certain ingredients in hair products or colors and get flaky, itchy, and red scalp which leads to dandruff.
Dandruff risk factors
Almost anyone can get dandruff, but certain risk factors can make you more susceptible to getting dandruff:
Dandruff usually begins in young adulthood and continues through middle age. That does not mean that older adults do not get dandruff. For some people, the problem might be lifelong.
Since men are more likely to get dandruff, researchers think that male hormones might play a role.
Oily hair and scalp:
Malassezia fungus feeds off the oil on the scalp. That’s why having too oily skin makes you more susceptible to dandruff.
Some diseases:
Adults with neurological diseases such as Parkinson’s disease are at a higher risk to get seborrheic dermatitis and dandruff. People with HIV or other immune system problems are also more susceptible to dandruff.
Recommendation:
Most cases of dandruff do not require medical treatment. But you can see a dermatologist if anti-dandruff shampoos do not treat your dandruff or if you get a red and inflamed scalp. You might also have seborrheic dermatitis or other conditions that have similar symptoms with dandruff.
Direction for use:
Dampen hair with water and put a dab of moisturizer to your hair and gently massage with it and let it rest on the hair for a few minutes; Then rinse it off.
